Wine Spotlight : 2010 Donelan "Nancie" Chardonnay
Beautifully structured, elegant Chardonnay offered from Donelan Family’s boutique winery in Sonoma County. The focus is placed on quality above all else and it is readily apparent in this first selection we decided to feature at Napa East. It is truly rare and special to be offering this by the glass and it is our hope that you will visit us to see why.
Winemaker’s Notes : We sought to produce a terroir driven Chardonnay wine with minerality and subtlety made simply in neutral French puncheons and barrique: designed for pleasure, uniqueness, and food. The 2010 retains the structure achieved in 2009, but with added elements of texture and richness in addition to an increase in fruit concentration such as lemon, mandarin, and lychee. The mineral character of the finish is accented by hints of anise that is carried along a nice lengthy finish. The cool, long 2010 vintage was excellent for Chardonnay, and this Nancie is no exception!
Beautiful on its own, ultimate bliss will ensue when paired with our Maryland Style Crab Cakes and Chicken Piccata.

Délestage: French term for racking with the purpose of removing harsh tannins from the wine in the form of grape seeds. In this process the wine is drained into a secondary vessel, allowing the cap to settle to a bottom and loosen the seeds that are trapped in the pulps. As the wine drains, a filter captures the seeds and removes them from the wine. The wine is then returned the first vessel.
